empathyAug 3, 2026

I remember when empathy was a big buzzword in corporate America. There was so much advice about how to develop more empathy and how being more empathetic would help product managers design better products, and how empathy in the workforce would lead to more collaboration and better outcomes for customers. But I don’t think all that led to better outcomes because I don’t think pressuring people to have more empathy actually makes them more empathetic

As I prepare to start a 2 week vacation on Monday I hereby abdicate all responsibility to answer any DMs or respond to any emails, and might also take a little break from my daily word game, sorry @word_a_day_game https://t.co/UKt9uGCgLG

If only everyone who uses the word of the day on X knew how mirthful I feel when I see it on my timeline…. I suppose I could just tell them. If you’ve played @word_a_day_game , thank you! It brings me joy to see people use something I built. 🙏🙏 If you haven’t played, any particular reason why? Is there anything I can do to convince you to try it?

Sometimes I think this entire season of my life where I pivoted from a very corporate environment in HR tech and enterprise SaaS and stumbled onto farcaster and then started a livestream podcast where we talk about what’s happening there is too oneiric to be believable And S/o @cameronspirals for suggesting today’s word of the day

rescindJul 9, 2026

The word of the day is rescind. It means to revoke, cancel or repeal a law, order, or agreement. Everyone can learn the word of the day by following @word_a_day_game or subscribing on https://t.co/UcOOBctUZn. It’s free and easy to do. But to play the game, you have to actually use the word of the day on @x to prove you understand its meaning. For example, I could say “I will rescind my kids weekly allowance if they chose not to do their chores for the week.” Then I’ll get points if it’s determined I used the word correctly. I can also see how my friends are using the word. The more I see the word of the day pop up on my feed, the more likely I am to remember its meaning and truly learn its definition. The game mechanics are more or less automated and will run on its own, but I hope to get more and more people playing, because there’s a network effect and the game is better the more people play.

@word_a_day_game I’m neither an avid sports watcher nor a gambler, but I’ve made a few negligible bets for World Cup, mostly just to test drive and demo to friends how prediction markets work

altruismJun 27, 2026

The word of the day for today (@word_a_day_game) is altruism and I’m beyond annoyed that I can’t hear that word anymore without thinking about the effective altruism movement 🙄 I think of altruism the same way I think about compassion, based on teachings from the Dalai Lama. We should cultivate more altruism in our hearts. Full stop. Dont try to measure outcomes. Don’t do it to make the world better. Don’t try to be good at it. Don’t do it because someone told you it will come back to you.

@word_a_day_game Even with AI writing all my code, I still want my code base in pristine condition. Even if I can't see it, I need to know it's clean.
