Yak shaving is an activity that feels vexing while you are in the midst of it, but when you are finished and look back at the work, you realize that the annoyance, frustration, and worry you felt were only transient. I say to myself as I finish day 3 of a refactoring activity that I thought would take half a day...And entirely unrelated, if anyone notices any issues with @word-a-day (on the miniapp, the site, the social accounts, notifications, scoring, etc.) let me know.

Is there is one concept I try to imbue all my work with, it is this: prioritize continuous learning and shorten feedback loops

When I hear the word miasma I always think of this They Might Be Giants song from one of their children’s albums “The sun is a miasma Of incandescent plasma The sun's not simply made out of gas No, no, no The sun is a quagmire It's not made of fire Forget what you've been told in the past” It’s funny because this song ‘why does the sun really shine’ comes right after their song ‘why does the sun shine’ where they tell kids the sun is a giant ball of gas and then this song comes on to say it’s actually a miasma of plasma and not a ball of gas Also if you have kids under 10, highly recommend playing this entire album in the car or whenever you listen to music- my kids said it helped with with science tests in high school and even college 🤣

Farcaster has been my source for intellectual sustenance for the past 4 years Will be forever grateful for the amount of interesting things I read here

Some people find crashing out on Twitter to be a bit of a catharsis but I prefer to throw my tantrums in the privacy of my home and present as a professional, well adjusted adult on social media. But to each their own. The word of the day is catharsis. Can you use catharsis correctly in a cast? 🤔
