Can you imagine running a messenger channel where the admin doesn’t even get notifications for comments, can’t tag people, or reply with images, only text? Well, I’ve been running one like that for a month and a half, and I’ve realized I’m mega patient. Managing a channel with those limitations takes some serious finesse. Just gotta believe it’ll evolve one day... 🤪

Speaking of language learning, my five-year-old is really excited about English, but since her class is only on Saturdays, she's been teaching herself with her brother's old textbooks. I’m not entirely sure what kind of English she’s learning, but every time I try to broach the topic of helping her, she says it’s not necessary...😂

I’m far from an exemplary mom. Regifted the box of chocolates I got from my students to the kids, but they gave it back, saying the chocolates tasted weird. Only then did I bother to look closer at the box: contains cognac, liqueur, and port wine… Don’t report me!🙈

In case you’re wondering what an online board looks like, here’s basically the skeleton of the lesson: usually a polemical, debate-sparking article or video to discuss, plus a bit of grammar and lots of vocabulary to practice. By the end of the lesson, though, the board looks completely different, full of comments and questions that we take into the next lesson.

Last night, my bestie (also an ESL teacher and an artist) asked if I could help her with her vocab and speaking through online lessons. I was stunned and so honored, so naturally I said yes. We’re starting on Sunday, and I’m throwing myself into the project with great ardor. I’ve already started preparing for our first lesson - first thing this morning, lol

Seeing those torn answer key pages in the bin, I can only extrapolate that my son's choosing the hard way on purpose. Understanding > the grade!

Autumn's time for melancholy. Giving in to melancholy, I realised I didn’t want what I thought I wanted, for the simple reason that I couldn’t name the reason I wanted it...

Today’s @word-a-day reminded me that it’s been a while since I last took on any ascetic challenges. Sometimes I give up coffee or sweets for two-three weeks (sweets are much easier to quit, btw). As for coffee, I don’t think it’s simply a matter of addiction, not entirely, at least. For me, it’s part of my morning ritual, and it does make me happier. And yes, in June I stopped making coffee in a coffee machine and started brewing it entirely in a cezve. It makes the ritual so much better and the coffee so much tastier. Cheers ☕
