If you think I’ve been casting too much food lately, you’re absolutely right. Inspiration is a marvelous thing 😜

mirthfulJul 18, 2026

I feel just as mirthful every time I come across words I learned through @word-a-day in books, videos, or movies. It’s such a satisfying feeling not having to reach for the dictionary right away. To be totally honest, yeah, I still forget some of them sometimes, and the context doesn’t always make the meaning clear, so I do look them up occasionally, but that’s only about 10% of the time. The other 90% is just me smiling like "Ohhh, I know this one!" Thanks for such a cool app! If you hadn’t built it, I probably would have, haha 😁

Sometimes I go full thespian and pretend I’m clueless about what’s really going on or act like I actually believe a big lie, just to see how far it goes.

epitomeJul 16, 2026

I don’t usually push Youtube videos, but this one is probably worth your time. It’s a debate on the origins of life, the universe, and human existence, with a theist, an atheist, and an agnostic thinker exploring whether science alone is enough, or whether philosophy and religion still bring something essential to the table. Whatever your stance, it’s the epitome of respectful, intelligent conversation. All three participants speak in good faith, genuinely trying to understand, not just to refute. Bonus: it’s full of dry British humor, and the speakers are so calm and articulate you could easily listen for hours. https://youtu.be/zruhc7XqSxo?si=_21e0OEBUpokiIM3

oneiricJul 15, 2026

It may sound a bit naive or even delusional, but don't you think this whole AI thing might just be a warm-up, preparing us for something on a completely new level, something that seems absolutely oneiric for now? Or do you believe we're heading toward Judgment Day and the rise of the machines?

Emergent is probably the word I write on the board most often. In almost every lesson I set aside about a third of the board for emergent vocabulary - all the useful words and expressions that come up naturally during the lesson (the ones you weren't planning to teach but are too good not to write down). By the end of the lesson that section is usually packed, and my students almost always take a picture before they leave. Online I use sticky notes instead, but the idea is the same. 🙃 I think I'm starting to miss teaching (and the paycheck, too!)

benevolentlyJul 13, 2026

My four-year-old broke her scooter today and was absolutely heartbroken. About ten minutes later, a woman from the playground came back with a scooter (not brand new, but in really good condition) and gave it to us. She smiled benevolently and explained that they had two at home, so one had just been gathering dust. I offered to pay for it, but she wouldn’t hear of it. I’m still blown away. Even though I’d do the same for someone else, it’s a whole different feeling when you’re the one on the receiving end of that kind of random kindness from a complete stranger.

Haha, the original song was about paranoia, but pronoia is a much better rewrite. I vote for this version 🙌 It definitely fits spring (and life) better! P.S. Now I won't be able to hear the original the same way again 😁

The other day my friend and I were talking about the same thing, but for some reason we just couldn’t stay serious and instead started coming up with even worse scenarios that could exacerbate the whole mess that’s going on right now, pushed them to the point of absurdity, and laughed our heads off 🙃

preteritionJul 10, 2026

Who suggested today's word? It's barely in any dictionary and have only one Youtube video 🙈 In the spirit of preterition, I won't mention that I'm not entirely sure I'm using it correctly 😝
