I try to be judicious with my vibe coding not as an ascetic choice but because I know better than to over-eagerly consume the first thing the word tumblers put out without learning the why. You could say I’m rather gluttonous for knowledge and learning enough to abstain from overindulgence in results-based gratifications these tools offer. lol

Many eagerly anticipate learning who the next steward of Farcaster will be, but no matter who takes on the mantle of managing Farcaster, builders will always keep on building to take care of its community.

I used to gallivant around town between shift work and on days off, exploring my newfound rural home’s gorgeous scenery and finding the little mom and pop establishments (literally stumbled upon an unintentional speakeasy twice) that flew under the radar even in a town where everyone knows everyone. I’d walk 3-5 miles on weekdays and 7-10 miles on weekend days. Eventually one of my friends who drive would drive past me and pull over to be like “get in we’re grilling meat and drinking beer.” Simpler times. 🥲

Should my lofty efforts prevail, Ozmium “Hosts” may be the most prodigious thing I’ve done far beyond founding an arts charity or attaining a doctoral degree, even combining my experiences from both in the work I put forward into it.

Papi (my oldest chihuahua that passed back in November) had a talent: he could hurtle his tiny barely 7-lbs body over a 4-foot baby gate. Somewhere buried in my Google Drive I have a video saved of him in little Halloween bat wings hurtling himself over one- he was AKC and definitely could have won some Agility competitions in his prime.

I’m feeling absolutely jubilant after getting a surprise $15 for simply enabling X Money on X. I didn’t expect it, but small acts like that mean a lot for someone that comes from modest means. Finding a box of wheatna at the pantry made me jubilant when I was in undergraduate eating only every 2-3 days because of food scarcity. 😂

Most of the Farcaster quibble of X as a platform objects using it on grounds I genuinely agree with (I don’t enjoy running ozonchain but it’s a necessary evil); however, I found an odd use for X still: finding and following the inventors of patent filings of interest, with the help of Grok due to the direct integration. Weirdest useful use case for X that I currently have, quibbles aside.

I’m sorry matcha fans and coffee snobs, the percolator still reigns king here. Our household prefers to percolate coffee with a drip percolator, though we still fresh grind the beans for fresh flavor. Don’t always have the time for a French press or want to fuss over the espresso machine, plus with anywhere between 2 and 5 people having a few mugs a morning so percolating is just efficient volume. There’s also just something so cozy and nostalgic about the sounds of hot water and steam diffusing through grinds and filtering through good paper we can’t give up. ☕️

A toonish sassafras might exclaim “sufferin’ succotash!” when a bunch of susurrus is giving in earshot, like when mice come alive after midnight in the wall AND drive me up it. City’s a quiet enough one there isn’t that ambient noise to drown out their pitter-patter, nesting, and chewing as they mosey about… 🙃 (Rural problems, lol. We’ve let the cat back into the unfinished area of our basement to get in there and evict them- it’s gotten quieter since, sorry little guys. 🐭💀)

There’s a bit of a scuttlebutt going around the last few years that some of the nonprofits in my region are not exactly dealing at arm’s length and using the “we have no professionals in rural America” and “we’re all ruralpoor so we can cut corners” excuse for it. 😤 It steams me up but I have to remember a rumor is a rumor not a fact and while it made a lot make sense I have to keep my cool and just keep doing good work for the people who appreciate help, not slush funds.
