Some say it’s really difficult to communicate with someone when they don’t say what they mean. However, it’s not as common to hear those same people acknowledge that there are cultural communication differences. Western cultures are typically more direct and forthright when they speak. They like a strong handshake and direct eye contact. Eastern cultures are less direct, purposefully avoid eye contact, are what some might consider demure. Many of my friends are Asian America so there’s a complimentary mix of both Western & Eastern, but we still miscommunicate all the time. One of my oldest friends is of German Irish descent and his penetrating communication style can oftentimes cut through the gut wrenching presumptions the rest of our circle of friends make & expose the unsaid for what it usually is - nonsensical, silly prejudicial garbage. Here’s to hoping there’s someone like that in your circle of friends. 🙌🏽 https://www.scienceofpeople.com/cultural-differences-in-communication/

Framedl PRO 2026-06-24 6/6* When I was a child with a single digit age, we had a church friend who played wordle. I watched her play and couldn’t imagine how she could just magically get the answer all of the time. When I asked her, she COYLY responded that “practice makes perfect”. Now, thanks to our Framedl dev @ds8 and a little luck, maybe some unwarranted and exuberant temerity to log into Farcaster every day for over two years, I have played 771 games and have solved 96% of them. And yet, I worry over the unsolved 4% and think back to my friend from so long ago. She would’ve been able to figure those out. I’m sure of it. ☺️

pristineJun 23, 2026

Back in the early 90s, my friends and I went to Lake Tahoe in Nevada. We rented jet skis and swam in the lake. The lake water was so pure, clear, and pristine, you could literally fill a glass with water from the lake and drink it. It tasted waaay better than the bottled stuff you find in the grocery stores. My family and I visited Lake Tahoe with my in-laws shortly after the world opened up again - after COVID. The lake is so polluted now and overcrowded. It saddened me to see how commercialized the lakefront was and the trash littered about the entire area. I don’t know what it will take to get the lake and surrounding areas back to what it used to be. I suppose it could be cordoned off as a nature preserve, but they’d have to get rid of the nearby housing too. 🧐🤨

inquisitiveJun 22, 2026

Have your ever met someone who regularly embarks on exploring uncharted waters so-to-speak? I mean to say someone who is a continual learner simply for the sake of it. These explorations don’t necessarily have to be new or uncharted to the world - just new to the individual. You know how they say that most drivers have no idea how the car they’re driving actually works? Or how most who read Moby Dick could care less about the whaling industry? There’s the rare breed that pick up on such details that blissfully escape most. One of my oldest and dearest friends is like this. He’s super intelligent and inquisitive to boot. It’s not guaranteed that if you have one, you’ll always have the other. It doesn’t hurt that his brother is a mechanic. If I don’t stop him, he’ll go on and on about vehicle combustion engines or killer whales or how multi-factor authentication and one-time passcodes work. It’s endlessly intriguing, but there’s only so much you can absorb in a sitting. 😅

I normally keep my crypto wallet balances to myself, but since someone has so generously deposited such ostentatious wealth into my Farcaster wallet, it’s the least I can do to thank them. Maybe now I can splurge on a Farcaster Pro subscription - for the entire community! 🫶🏽

On job satisfaction: As daunting as large projects can seem, it’s more than possible to see them through to the finish line with the right planning and a strong knowledgable team. I’ve been working on projects large and small and in-between for over 25 years. It really does all come down to planning and a committed team’s ongoing diligence to reach the goal. Our PMO (project mgmt office) has delivered year after year and it’s been a genuine pleasure to be part of high-performance teams. Combine that with a well-paying job and you’ve got the makings of a satisfying career. What do you do for a living? And more importantly, do you like doing it?

This is the silly quagmire I find myself in and these more probing questions starts re-introducing that earlier discomfort of which I was so assiduously trying to spare my co-workers. It’s not life or death, but for a while there, it certainly felt like it. Thankfully, I’m on the mend. 🙏🏽

conundrumJun 17, 2026

The people making those laws are painting some very broad strokes and in the process, precious details get lost. As a parent, I can understand the apprehension of exposing children to sexual health ads. Even worse, the AAP conducted a study showing that information is inaccurate over 20% of the time. There has to be a middle ground, but social media companies have been loathe to put up age-restricted safeguards. It’s taking landmark trials where YouTube and Meta are actually being held accountable in a growing number of courts around the world. Entire countries like Australia, Brazil, and Indonesia are banning social media for kids under 16. It’s a complicated conundrum and there’s more to say, but my pro sub is up and my long casts shortened. 🙁 https://www.aap.org/en/news-room/news-releases-from-aap-conferences/over-20-of-sexual-health-related-tiktoks-contained-inaccurate-information/

inscrutableJun 16, 2026

Are there any J. R. R. Tolkien fans out there of his immortal works, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings? After seeing all of the movies, I’d allowed years to go by before watching the Amazon Prime TV series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Perhaps it’s covered in the books which I’ve yet to read, but I’d never actually learned who the Lord of the Rings was. I thought it might’ve been one of the hobbits. To me, it was an inscrutable puzzle all but lost to the fantastic storytelling in the movies. Well, I just finished season 2 and have rekindled my interest in Tolkien’s story. Can’t wait until season 3 starts this November!
