He wouldn’t take anything less than $375 for the card. Either the buyer was low balling him or had no idea what he was looking at. $118 was nowhere near the minimum for the pristine Charizard, limited edition, collectors card. No creases, crisp corners, and not even a finger smudge. He always wore cotton cloves when handling the merchandise.

13/15

The dissonant atmosphere in the U.S. today, influenced by a racist, vengeful political agenda, cannot last forever. But damn! It sure does feel like forever.

I am quite proud of my intrepid child, Rowan, who is now three days into a two week student exchange trip in Spain. They flew over on Monday with about 20 of their classmates. Rowan is staying with the family if the student we hosted back in September 2025. They are seen here feeding a horse in Madrid with a donkey and a dog looking on.

During his early June sit-down interview with Ms. Welker of Meet the Press, the president’s answers became increasingly shrill and vitriolic. The host remained calm and presented established facts during her persistent questions. Rather than treat them with good faith, Mr. Trump seethed with bitterness and then stomped off in defeat.

Even though computers have calculated all of the prime numbers that exist up to 10,000,000, the Reiman Conjecture still remains unproven. While many choose to assume that all of these non-trivial zeros lie on a single vertical "critical line" where the real part equals exactly 1/2, no definitive, mathematical proof exists.

Almost there? That was the message from the Word-A-Day app with my 0/15 score. Truth is, I was busy with preparations and grad parties all day. The word challenge slipped my mind completely. Not even trying is the antithesis of “almost there”. I expended zero effort and that is nowhere near fifteen.

As a boy when I attended movies in the theater with my family I prayed I would never be spotted by my classmates. Not because I was ashamed of my tragically unhip mother, though I certainly was. No, it was her surreptitious smuggling in of cans of coca-cola and the oil stained, grocery bag full of home-popped popcorn. I of course ate the contraband but would have been mortified if any ever saw me chowing down on that booty.

The paucity of clever puns on my timeline is disappointing. Will you help me remedy the dearth of witticisms? I shall begin: I used to make a lot of origami and cast it on my timeline but I decided to quit. Too much paperwork.

The chairs have been arranged in the gym. In just over 36 hours my students will walk across the stage and receive their diplomas as their families look on with tear-filled eyes. Raising their arms in triumph to boisterous applause from a thousand classmates they can finally acknowledge that they did it!
